This was my first major professional graphic design project. I was hired by The Pulse at my college, Messiah University, as the Yearbook Manager. With the Exception of the photography, the copy for the letter from the president and the letter from the editor I made the book in its entirety. All 200 pages and the cover were designed and laid out by me. The project required coordination with 20+ offices and school organizations, parents and the student body in order to procure materials and create a keepsake commemorating the graduating class of 2023. The inspiration for this yearbook’s theme was the material culture and heritage of messiah university, particularly its architecture. My goal was to create a yearbook that reflected the rich heritage of the school and deviated visually from recent yearbook projects. The illustration on the cover is of Old Main, the building that held the bible college that would eventually become Messiah University. The stars are derived from the iron star bolts on the outside of the building that can be found on many historic buildings in Pennsylvania.
